New Copex scrap shear installed in the UK

SG Boswell and Sons have started production with their new heavy-duty scrap shear S-Wing supplied by Copex at their site in Spalding (Lincolnshire). Their machine has a cutting force of 1,000 tons, a cutting width of 800 mm, an 8 m long compression box and a 650 hp diesel engine.

Three generations (Donald Boswell, his children and his grandson) are completely happy with their purchase.

Managing Director Jason Boswell says: “When choosing a new scrap shear, cost was very important to us and also the build quality. After viewing several shears, it was obvious that Copex was head and shoulders above the other shears that we viewed. Not only the build quality, but also the physical weight of the shear approximately 200 tonnes which helped determine our decision. Also my father Donald Boswell has always been a firm believer that quality remains long after the price is forgotten! With this in mind we purchased the heavy duty Copex shear”.

SG Boswell and Sons are using their machine mainly to process HMS 1 + 2 materials with an aimed hourly production of 30 tonnes at a cutting length of 60 cm.

The support provided by Copex throughout the project was also highly appreciated: “We are very happy with the way Copex worked with us. The full experience with Copex was exceptional from the first viewing, to factory visits during the build and final installation. They went above and beyond to make sure our machine was working perfectly in every way. Before leaving our site they made sure that we were given full tuition of the workings of the machine and also how to change the blades. We now know that we have made the right choice as our new Machine far surpasses our expectation”.
